Designing the perfect website takes hours of painstaking and arduous work like picking out the pictures and writing the perfect content. Trying to pick the right colors and fonts alone can take quite a lot of your time. Once you finish the design and get your website up and running, you take pride in your work and expect that it is going to stay that way.
But things change so fast these days, that it seems like there is a website update every time you turn around. Some updates come with a warning so you can prepare for them, but other updates are automatic and catch you completely by surprise, and usually at the most inopportune time.
Automatic Website Updates
With automatic updates from your hosting company, things can change in an instant with no warning at all. Layout changes, missing images, broken links, and disabled plug-ins are just a few of the issues you can encounter.
Updates can happen at any time and can affect many aspects of your site. Most updates are very specific in their nature and only affect certain themes or plug-ins and not the entire site. Staying on top of these updates can be tricky and requires constant monitoring and maintenance. It takes diligence and a dedicated, professional team to stay on top of automatic updates.
Scheduled Website Updates
Scheduled updates are somewhat easy to stay on top of comparatively. With scheduled updates, you will be notified in advance whenever a change is going to be made. Most hosting companies will provide you with the details and time and date of all updates so you can be ready. Many sites will also provide you with the tools and information you need to fix any issues that the update may cause on your site.
How Infinite Reach Stays on Top of Website Updates
A recent automatic WordPress Update affected a number of our clients’ accounts. This could have created problems for us and our clients but, at Infinite Reach, we have processes in place to ensure that our clients sites are fully optimized and working properly at all times.
Our first line of defense is our Marketing Manager, Katelyn Flores. She starts each day by checking our clients’ websites to ensure that everything looks proper. If she discovers an issue, she notifies the Account Manager, who immediately goes to work to investigate and solve the issue. Katelyn does not have time to fully check out each website every day, so we have yet another process in place.
Twice a week, our Account Manager’s do an in depth look at each of their clients’ sites. They go in navigate the entire site to make sure that everything is working properly. They look at and read every page to ensure layout changes have not been made that affect the content, as well as play all videos or slideshows, and try all the links and tabs.
Our Team is dedicated to providing the very best service in all aspects of our business. Making sure we stay on top of website updates is just one of the ways we serve our clients’ needs. If you need help staying on top of your website updates, please contact our Marketing Manager, Katelyn Flores, for more information on how we can help you.
